Uber files confidentially for IPO

Uber has reportedly filed confidentially for an IPO, putting it neck-and-neck with rival Lyft in the race to go public. Banking advisors for Uber have speculated that the company could go public at a value close to $120 billion, far above its recent private valuation of around $70 billion.

ByteDance eyes $1.45B fund

China-based content aggregator ByteDance is reportedly raising its own venture fund of about $1.45 billion, an astoundingly large sum for a private technology company.

Toss raises $80M, joins unicorn club

Korea’s Viva Republica, the company beyond popular payment app Toss, has raised $80 million in a new round led by Kleiner Perkins and Ribbit Capital. The financing sets a valuation of $1.2 billion, making Toss the latest tech player to join the unicorn club.

Moderna shares fall in IPO

Biotech startup Moderna saw shares fall close to 20 percent in its first two days of trading, after the company raised more than $600 million in its IPO. Moderna, which develops medicines based on messenger RNA, made its debut Friday as the largest-ever U.S. IPO of a development stage biotech company.
