ERLING HAALAND WINS PREMIER LEAGUE GOLDEN BOOT FOR THE SECOND YEAR
The league’s top scorer and 2024 premier league golden boot winner once again is the Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, who has scored 27 goals, surpassing Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who scored 22 times and finished as the runner-up. This achievement comes after his remarkable debut season, where he scored a record-breaking 36 goals. At just 23 years old, he becomes the fifth player to win the award outright in consecutive seasons.
Expressing his gratitude, he said, “Winning the Golden Boot again is a very special moment for me. I am immensely proud to contribute to this incredible team and have such amazing teammates. I would like to thank all my teammates for their support, as well as the hardworking coaches and staff. I am also grateful to the fans who have shown me tremendous support, and I always enjoy celebrating goals with them.”
In addition to this individual accolade, Haaland becomes the first player from City to win the award more than once. Previously, Carlos Tevez shared the prize with Dimitar Berbatov in 2010/11, and Sergio Aguero scored 26 goals in 2014/15.
Haaland’s first two seasons at City have been nothing short of extraordinary, as he has claimed six major honors, including consecutive Premier League titles in a record-breaking run of four in a row. Throughout the season, he scored crucial goals against top teams like Liverpool, Spurs, Manchester United, and Chelsea, as well as registering hat-tricks against Fulham and Wolves.
This latest individual award adds to his impressive list of achievements, having been nominated for the Premier League Player and Young Player of the Season awards. He had previously won both awards in the 2022/23 season. Furthermore, Haaland was honored with the Best Men’s Player award at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards and finished as the runner-up in the Ballon d’Or voting.
In all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s dominant team, he has now scored a total of 90 goals in 96 games, with 38 of those goals coming this season. Next Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley presents him with an opportunity to increase that tally. If City emerges victorious, they will become the first club to win consecutive Premier League and FA Cup Doubles.
Our No.9 has achieved an impressive array of personal records and accolades during his time at City. He holds the distinction of being the fastest player to reach 60 Premier League goals, accomplishing this feat in just 63 games. Furthermore, he has already scored six hat-tricks in the Premier League, a feat surpassed by only seven players in the division’s history.
In his debut season, he set a new record by scoring 36 goals, the highest ever in a single season. Additionally, he holds the English club record for the most goals in all competitions, with a remarkable 52 goals. We extend our congratulations to Erling on yet another remarkable achievement and his exceptional performances in his first two seasons in the Premier League.
