Expanded National MSME Clinic in Makurdi: FG To formalize One Million SMEs in the Country
During the launch of the Expanded National MSME Clinic in Makurdi, Benue State, Vice President Kashim Shettima announced ambitious plans to support MSMEs nationwide. The event showcased the government’s dedication to fostering a thriving MSME ecosystem and emphasized the importance of these businesses in job creation and economic development.
The clinic, part of President Tinubu’s initiatives, aims to provide essential resources to overcome obstacles faced by MSMEs. Benue State is leading the way, with plans for subsequent visits to other states and the Federal Capital Territory. The initiative will culminate in the National MSME Awards in Abuja on June 27. VP Shettima highlighted the federal government’s commitment, including financial support through the Bank of Industry and Access Bank. He reassured entrepreneurs that President Tinubu is determined to address their challenges.
VP Shettima praised Benue State’s entrepreneurial drive and its contributions to agriculture, art, and commerce. He also recognized the clinic as a tribute to the state’s strong work ethic. Shettima announced plans for a world-class fashion hub in Makurdi, dedicated to the state’s tailoring cluster, which will be operational within 90 days.
Governor Hyacinth Alia emphasized Benue State’s openness to business and commitment to empowering MSMEs. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, and heads of key agencies. These agencies offered immediate access to working capital, assistance with formalization, guidance on exports, product certification, and tax advisory services, highlighting the government’s comprehensive support for MSME growth.
