ExxonMobil and JA Africa launch “ExxonMobil STEM Africa” initiative a $300,000 STEM Program
The ExxonMobil Foundation and JA Africa have introduced the “ExxonMobil STEM Africa” initiative, a $300,000 project aimed at promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for around 3,000 African students in Nigeria, Namibia, Angola, and Mozambique.
The initiative will equip middle and high school students for future STEM careers through interactive quizzes and practical experiences at Innovation Camps. These camps, organized by JA Africa, will impart innovative strategies for tackling STEM-related issues.
Alvin Abraham, President of the ExxonMobil Foundation, emphasized the importance of enhancing students’ STEM skills to cultivate the next generation of problem solvers in Africa. He expressed enthusiasm about witnessing how these young individuals will apply their newfound knowledge from the program.
Teams with the most outstanding STEM solutions will represent their respective countries at a significant regional industry conference in Cape Town, South Africa. This opportunity will provide students with exposure to different cultures, insights into global energy perspectives, and a platform to showcase their ideas while networking with industry experts.
