Flapmax Unveils Women in Artificial Intelligence Fellowship on Generative Artificial Intelligence

Flapmax, a prominent pioneer in artificial intelligence solutions, has officially introduced the Women in AI (WAI) Generative AI Fellowship program under its FAI Institute initiative. APPLY HERE. . The primary objective of this program is to empower women in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector and foster innovation in AI research and development, with a focus on underserved communities in emerging markets such as Africa. Individuals interested in generative AI are encouraged to submit their applications by April 8, 2024, to be considered for the program’s 3rd cohort, commencing in May 2024.

Since its establishment, the FAI Institute’s WAI initiative has offered training opportunities to over 800 women from more than 24 countries. With the support of Intel and Microsoft, and in partnership with Wentors, a global community committed to fostering the growth of women in technology, the WAI initiative is broadening avenues for underrepresented communities, particularly women, through practical learning experiences and hands-on projects in real-world settings. In honor of International Women’s Day, graduates of the WAI program have shared their journeys in a newly released short documentary film titled Breaking Barriers: Women Shaping the Future of AI.

Dorathy Simeon, Senior Programs Coordinator at Wentors, praised the Women in AI training program by FAI Institute for providing women with the chance to excel in artificial intelligence and data. She emphasized the importance of such initiatives in a world increasingly recognizing the potential of AI.

The upcoming WAI program, set to launch in May, will offer a 4-week virtual course featuring hands-on labs and instruction on industry tools for practical AI solutions. Participants will work with large datasets and machine learning libraries to create AI models for business purposes. Following the course, they will engage in 8-week AI practicum projects under the guidance of industry professionals. Through peer groups, weekly meetings, and networking opportunities with tech experts, participants will enhance their portfolios and highlight their accomplishments.

FAI Institute remains committed to conducting university-quality research with significant industry impact. The initiative aims to establish partnerships that promote technological advancement in underrepresented communities. The FAI Summit, organized by FAI Institute, serves as a platform for a community dedicated to responsible AI research, emerging technologies, and sustainability. The WAI 2024 program is giving preference to applicants interested in generative AI. Prospective participants, whether university/college students or working professionals, should possess basic knowledge of data science or computer programming and commit to the full program duration from May to August 2024. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a feature film production that leverages AI and creative technology.
