Glo set to deploy Nigeria’s 1st Artificial Intelligence in telecoms

Nigeria is set to deploy Artificial Intelligence in its telecommunications sector as Globacom has announced plans to launch the next generation platform.

Globacom made the disclosure in Lagos, Nigeria, on Friday, stating that Artificial intelligence would completely change customer experience owing to its highly interactive and engaging nature.The company said the AI platform would engage customers directly and assist them to get information on pressing issues. It will also support customers to choose the most convenient data and talk plan in both the prepaid and postpaid categories, resolve general and specific issues such as balance enquiry/Value Added Service (VAS) and respond to customer enquiries 24/7 without any human interface.

The Glo AI platform, which will be the first in the telecoms sector, will enable conversation in English and Pidgin through voice & text.

Described by the company as a next generation customer experience, the platform will go live in the couple of weeks.

Globacom also announced it was about to launch a new product, Glo Health Care, which is designed to help Nigerians access the best global health care directly on their phones.

Glo Health Care is aimed at connecting Nigerians with specialised doctors worldwide. Through it, Nigerians can get information on common medical conditions at the click of a button. The service is expected to checkmate medical tourism.

Those who will use the service can also track key health parameters such as blood pressure and sugar level.

To address the diversity of language in Nigeria’s telecom landscape, there will be audio translation in Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. Additionally, the service offers a worldwide database of doctors and allows booking of appointment by video consulting on the smartphone

Another product announced at the event is the Glo Entertainment Portal, a single point of access for all digital content through Glo Café which supplies premium content of top international labels.

It has over 2million local and foreign songs.

The company also unveiled its new communication direction and its endorsement by World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua. The endorsement contract with the world heavyweight boxing champion covers Nigeria and Ghana.

Joshua is a proud holder of four major world championship belts, namely International Boxing Federation (IBF) title, World Boxing Association (WBA) title, World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title, and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) title which he won between 2016 and 2018.

Other products showcased at the event include Glo Drive, Glo Call Connect Service and World Connect.
