Leaf Wallet Rebrands to BOSS Money; Expands to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, and Tanzania
IDT Corporation, a global provider of cloud communications, traditional communications, and fintech services, declared today that it is renaming its Leaf Wallet app, which is based in Africa, to IDT’s primary financial services brand, BOSS Money.
The rebranding is a part of a larger push to progressively expand across Africa using Leaf Wallet’s core technology, enabling Americans to conduct money transfers directly to relatives and friends on the Continent.
Customers across Africa will be able to securely store, transfer, receive, and exchange currencies on their phones across borders thanks to the newly launched BOSS Money wallet’s continued usage of the Leaf Wallet’s blockchain-based technology on the Stellar Network. Customers will still be able to use the wallet’s USSD interface, which can be accessed via a short code and app, to access funds and conduct transactions on feature phones.
Consumers in Africa will be able to use the BOSS Money app to receive cash directly from customers in the US using the Boss Money wallet. The money that has been sent can be used to send free messages to other BOSS Money users in Africa, pay local bills, and buy airtime. Additionally, money can be withdrawn to a recipient’s bank account or mobile wallet.
According to Leaf’s CEO, there is a huge chance to expand our footprint across Africa, reach millions of new users with the BOSS Money wallet, and link both current and new customers with their family and friends in the United States.
In addition to Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, and Tanzania will soon be able to download the recently renamed BOSS Money app.
Customers in the U.S. will be able to send money quickly and securely, just like a local, to family, friends, and loved ones in Africa using BOSS Money. The monies’ recipients can select how, when, and where to access them using their BOSS Money wallet, according to IDT’s regional director of operations based in Nairobi, Kenya.
