Liverpool FC disunites Manchester United at Old Trafford: Mo Salah on Fire
It sounds unbelievable. But, yes, it did happen at Old Trafford, the strong hold of Manchester United FC. Right in their own arena, the rampaging Liverpool FC hit them with a 5 – 0 win at the week 9 of the 2021/2022 English Premiership Season. The entire team looking disunited, disorganized and humiliated by Liverpool FC, inspired by their great, Mo Salah. Not Pogba, not Ronaldo, not Rashford, not Maguire could save them.
And guess what. Mo Salah ran riot scoring a hat trick in the encounter, the first Liverpool player to do so at Old Trafford since Fred Howe, back in 1936. The Egyptian has now scored in 10 successive appearances, and has 15 goals in all competitions this season.
Mohamed Salah has overtaken Didier Drogba as the highest scoring African in Premier League history. Salah now has 107 goals to his name in the English top flight, taking him above Chelsea great Drogba, who scored 104.
It needed to be seen to be believed. The Reds’ record win at Old Trafford. Manchester United, the famous Manchester United, beaten 5-0 in their own backyard.
Four goals down at half-time, with home fans streaming for the exits. Paul Pogba, on at the break and sent off before the hour. Sir Alex Ferguson in the stands, looking like a man who had just found out he is paying Cristiano Ronaldo’s wages for the next two years. Sir Kenny Dalglish smiling like a man who had just had a good, long look at the Stretford End scoreboard.
On the sideline, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wore the look of a broken man. ‘Ole must stay,’ sang the Liverpool fans. Cruel, but they have suffered at the United boss’ hands in the past. This was their revenge.
Manchester United fans called for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked during their humiliation against Liverpool on Sunday.
