Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project in Kogi gets World Bank support
The World Bank is supporting the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Kogi State which has so far benefited 30,000 livestock farmers with the help of a $500 million fund.
The project aims to enhance profitability and commercial viability in the livestock sector. The coordinator of the project emphasized the goal of commercializing livestock production to increase profits and contribute to industry growth.
The project is inclusive, targeting farmers of all scales, including women. It aims to impact 50,000 farmers in Kogi State, with 30% allocated to women beneficiaries.
The project plans to invest $40 million in establishing ranches to address farmer-herder conflicts and reduce clashes. Overall, the L-PRES initiative aims to support livestock farmers and make a positive impact on the sector in Kogi State.
