Nigeria stock market capitalization rises by N133 billion as stocks gain 0.50% on Thursday

Nigerian stocks continued their upward trend as the benchmark index increased by 0.50% to close at 49,233.02 points, which was its highest level since September 21. Gains in MTNN (+2.88%), ZENITHBANK (+2.17%), and WAPCO (+2.05%) offset losses in GTCO (-1.91%), FBNH (-0.46%), and GEREGU (-8.11%) to keep the market in the green.

So, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 15.26%, and the market capitalization increased by N133.43 billion to close at N26.82 trillion. The stock market has increased by 6516.7% basis points, or 15.25%, since the beginning of the year.

With the value of transactions increasing by 27.07%, analysis of today’s market activity revealed that trade turnover settled higher than it had the previous session. In a total of 2,756 transactions, 222.78 million shares worth N1.13 billion were exchanged. With 153.28 million units exchanged, STERLNBANK (-0.73%) topped the volume chart, while AIRTELAFRI (+0.00%) topped the value list with transactions totaling N744.34 million.

Positive market breadth was recorded at a ratio of 2.43 to 1, with more rising issues than declining ones. CAP (+9.88%) beat sixteen (16) others on the gainer’s table, while GEREGU (-8.11%) led six (6) others on the laggard’s ledger.
