Nigerian stock market gains 0.97% on Monday Trading session
The Nigerian stock market gained 0.97% on Monday to close at 67,101.33 points. The year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 30.93% as a result, and the market capitalization increased by N355.46 billion to close at N36.87 trillion.
The market’s overall favorable performance was primarily driven by investor interest in the industrial heavyweight BUACEMENT (+10.00%), coupled with WAPCO (+0.17%), and NB (+9.09%), outweighing losses in Tier-1 banking stocks ZENITHBANK (-0.16%), GTCO (-0.42%), and ACCESSCORP (-0.62%).
Trade turnover was lower than it was on Friday with a 61.23% decrease in transaction value. In a total of 6,911 transactions, 268.66 million shares worth N3.46 billion were swapped. With 29.17 million units traded in transactions worth 465.98 million, ACCESSCORP (-0.62%) topped the volume and value charts. On the laggard’s log, FTNCOCOA (-8.33%) was in front of 19 other competitors, while BUACEMENT (+10.00%) was in front of 15 other competitors.
