Nigerian stock market suffers 0.80% loss on Tuesday
The Nigerian stock market All-Share Index fell 0.80% to close at 66,760.20 points on Tuesday. As a result, the ASI’s year-to-date return fell to 30.26%, while market capitalization declined by ₦ 293.35 billion to close at ₦ 36.54 billion.
Bearish sentiment on MTNN (-1.53%), NESTLE (-2.33%) and ZENITHBANK (-3.45%) erased gains on WAPCO (+0.52%), OKOMUOIL (+5.20%) and OANDO (+9.47%), weighing on the market.
Trading volume increased with the value of transactions increasing by 32.16%. A total of 645.54 million shares worth ₦ 11.01 billion were exchanged in 10,554 trades. TRANSCORP (-0.66%) topped the volume chart with 87.82 million shares traded, while GTCO (-1.41%) topped the value chart with trades worth ₦1.33 billion.
