Plaid raises a quarter billion dollars

The pattern of giant funding rounds continues. Plaid, a maker of tools that allow apps to connect to bank accounts, raised $250 million in a Series C round led by venture capitalist Mary Meeker on behalf of Kleiner Perkins. The financing reportedly sets a $2.65 billion valuation for San Francisco-based Plaid.

Vroom drives away with $146M

New York-based Vroom, operator of an online auto retail platform, has raised $146 million in a Series G round led by publicly traded AutoNation. The round brings the five-year-old company’s total raised to date to $440 million.
