Plastic surgery remains THE top choice for medical tourists

The latest data from Creatrip, a Korean tourism platform, reveals that plastic surgery continues to be the top choice for medical tourists in Korea. Dermatology and dentistry have also been gaining popularity recently among visitors seeking medical treatments in the country. This information was gathered through Creatrip’s market analysis of its medical tourism services during the months of January and February this year.

Plastic surgery has emerged as the most preferred option for inbound tourists, with reservation rates experiencing a significant surge of 220 percent compared to the previous year. This increase was accompanied by a 270 percent rise in revenue. Taiwanese tourists were the dominant group making plastic surgery reservations, accounting for 77 percent of the total.

Dermatology has also seen a notable increase in popularity, with an 830 percent rise in reservation rates. Japanese tourists made up 40 percent of all dermatology reservations.

Moreover, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in dental and ophthalmological services, with reservation rates for dental procedures skyrocketing by 450 percent and revenue increasing by 400 percent. Western tourists constituted 35 percent of total dental reservations.

In the field of ophthalmology, Creatrip observed a growing preference among foreign tourists for vision correction surgeries. The company attributes this trend to the quick recovery and meticulous after-care services provided by Korean hospitals.

Lim Hye-min, CEO of Creatrip, noted, “While our focus has traditionally been on plastic surgery and dermatology, we have seen a significant rise in demand for dental and ophthalmological services this year.” source: Koreaherald. Article by By Heo Yu-jeong
