Remittance firm Okapi Finance has announced plans to expand in Botswana, Nigeria and The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by the end of 2018.
The firm operates in Kenya as Okapi East Africa and aims to be the pana-frican solution targeting to reach 145 million customers in the next 10 years according to its founder Gisele Mwepu. Mwepu was recently awarded Africa’s Most Influential Woman in Financial Services for her work as the Founder and CEO of Okapi Finance International. The award ceremony was organized and hosted by CEO Global and held in Accra, Ghana.

Okapi launched its services in Kenya in November 2017 and its mission is to bank the unbanked by providing financial inclusion and increasing access to financial services. The firm recently also partnered with Mpesa, through which Okapi subscribers can transfer cash from their Okapi wallet to their M-Pesa accounts and vise versa.
