Respite for grains as ACI appreciates by 0.58% on the African Commodities Exchange
The ACI appreciated by 0.58% W-o-W against a flat performance by the AEI. In contrast, the S&P GSCI Agriculture Index declined by 2.82% and 0.57% (W-o-W). With this, the ACI has consistently outperformed the S&P GSCI Agriculture Index on a season-to-date basis. However, the AEI has underperformed when compared to both indexes.
Market Price Performance
- Maize, soybean, and paddy rice declined on the Exchange in response to the decline recorded in the open market last week.
- Price of paddy rice in the open market surged, reversing its four-week decline, due to lower volume of harvest than anticipated.
- In the international market, ginger underperformed all other commodities tracked on a year-to-date basis.
