Stock Market Report: ASI rebounds 0.28% with market capitalization up N73 billion Wednesday

The NGX recovered today, recouping the loss from the previous session as the benchmark Index reached its highest level since 30 September by closing 0.28% higher at 48,988.04 points. Continuous demand for the industrial heavyweight BUACEMENT (+2.89%) countered declines in Tier-1 banking stocks GTCO (-0.48%), FBNH (-0.45%), and ACCESSCORP (-0.59%) to help the market close in the green. The year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 14.68% as a result, and the market capitalization increased by N73.26 billion to close at 26.68 trillion.

A review of today’s market activity revealed that trade turnover was lower than it had been during the previous session, with a 56.76% decrease in transaction value. In a total of 2,832 transactions, 88.04 million shares worth N1.68 billion were swapped. With 10.21 million units exchanged, GTCO (-0.48%) topped the volume chart, while NESTLE (+0.00%) topped the value one with transactions totaling 240.79 million.

Advancement issues outnumbered decliners in a 1.3-to-1 ratio as the market breadth closed in the positive. On the leader’s log, CHAMS (+9.52%) outperformed twelve (12) additional competitors, while MULTIVERSE (-8.51%) outperformed nine (9) additional competitors.
