Stock Market Update: NGX All-Share Index gains 4bps with market capitalization increasing by N1b
The benchmark index increased by 0.04% to conclude at 49,416.18 points as the Nigeria Stock Exchange closed higher, extending advances for the sixth straight session. As a result, the market capitalization and equities value increased by N1billion to close at N26.92 trillion and the year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 15.68%. The share price of Vitafoam Plc rose the most on Tuesday trading activities, going from N21 per share to N21.75 per share, up by 75 kobo or 3.57% per share. This was closely followed by the share price of Ardova which increased from N16.70 per share to N17.40 per share , adding 70 kobo or 4.19% per share.
Analysis of today’s market activity revealed that trade turnover ended up being larger than it was during the previous session, with the value of transactions rising by 1.77%. 3,186 transactions totaling 100,093,729 shares worth N1,295,838,173.89 were completed. GTCO (+0.23%), which traded 16.44 million units for deals totaling 354.75 million, topped the volume and value charts.
The market’s performance was mostly driven by gains in Tier-1 banking companies ZENITHBANK (+1.04%) and GTCO (+0.23%), which outweighed losses in NB (-0.53%) and FBNH (-1.38%).
Market breadth ended down at a ratio of 1.44 to 1, with fewer rising items than declining ones. While UPDCREIT (+8.62%) led eight (8) other participants in the gainer’s table, NEIMETH (-9.66%) led twelve (12) other participants in the laggard’s log.
