Türkiye earned $2.3B revenue from health tourism in 2023
Turkey has secured the seventh spot globally in health tourism, boasting numerous internationally recognized health institutions. According to data from the Trade Ministry, the sector raked in $2.3 billion in revenue in 2023.
The “Heal in Turkey” online platform, backed by the ministry, serves as the face of the country’s health tourism industry, featuring 175 institutions. Applications to join the portal are on the rise. The statement on the portal highlighted Turkey’s seventh-place ranking in health tourism worldwide, attributed to its accredited health institutions.
In 2022, health service exports brought in $1.9 billion, a figure that climbed to $2.3 billion in 2023, with 1.4 million health tourists visiting the country. The Trade Ministry allocated $22.8 million in funding to health services firms to bolster their operations, as they strive to establish Turkey as a global health tourism hub.
The majority of health tourists hailed from Germany, the UK, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, as per the statement.
