Unity Bank Commended by ANWBN for Supporting 5,000 Women with Yanga Product

Unity Bank Plc and the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) have joined forces to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 by reaching out to more than 90 women groups across Nigeria through the Yanga Account.

During a forum held in Abuja, Unity Bank introduced the Yanga account to the women’s groups, offering them enhanced product packages specifically designed for women entrepreneurs. These packages include capacity building, financing schemes for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), affordable health insurance, and cash management.

Mrs. Adenike Abimbola, the Divisional Head of Retail & SME Banking at Unity Bank Plc, revealed that over 5,000 women have already benefited from the partnership between the bank and ANWBN through the Yanga savings account.

The Yanga Savings Account, launched in 2021, aims to support Nigerian women entrepreneurs by promoting their businesses, improving their skill set, and providing access to micro-loans and health insurance.

Adenike emphasized that the partnership with ANWBN has successfully empowered Nigerian women by providing them with skills and credit facilities, including interest-free loans. This collaboration has significantly expanded the MSME sector in Nigeria.

Angela Ajala, the National Coordinator of ANWBN, expressed her appreciation for Unity Bank’s support and highlighted how the Yanga account aligns with the association’s mission to equip women with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to thrive as entrepreneurs and financial leaders. ANWBN consists of over 90 women business groups with more than 5 million members.

It is worth mentioning that Unity Bank recently partnered with SkillPaddy to empower 1,000 female beneficiaries through Software Engineering Training as part of their initiatives to commemorate International Women’s Day 2024.
