Vacancies for Truck Drivers in Europe – Live and Work in the EU

Due to increased demand for their trucking services, a major European transnational company operating a fleet of trucks across the EU and with bases in Germany, Poland, and Lithuania is seeking to recruit professional and experienced truck drivers from Nigeria and other English speaking African countries to live and work in the European Union (EU).

The European Union (better known as the EU) comprises 27 countries, namely: Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Croatia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. They are also part of the Schengen Visa Area, which enables people to enter any of the member countries with just one visa.

According to the OECD Better Life Index, the European Union enjoys a high standard of life ranking. The continent ranks high in life expectancy, water and air quality, employment opportunities and quality of education, social benefits and unemployment benefits. In addition, you have the right to live and move within the EU without being discriminated against on the grounds of nationality.

You can also benefit from greater consumer protection in the EU and, provided you meet certain requirements, can access healthcare anywhere in the EU. These are besides the higher wages and respect for human rights that you get from working within the European Union (EU).

Eligibility Requirements

Prospective truck drivers are to meet professional standards and be prepared to comply with the EU driving rules.

1. Must be in good health and with good eyesight

2. Must possess a minimum of two years professional truck driving experience in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Kenya, South Africa or Uganda.

3. Must be literate in the English language able to communicate and write fluently in it.

4. Must possess a valid truck driver’s license with at least two years remaining validity

5. Must be of good character with no police cases nor court convictions

6. Should have full Covid-19 vaccination

7. Should not be more than 45 years of age

8. Possession of a valid International Passport with at least two years remaining validity or should have the ability to procure an international passport within two months.

9. Ability to obtain reference letters and certificates of experience from previous employers 

10. Drivers with experience driving for the breweries, beverage companies, oil companies, manufacturing companies, Dangote, BUA, Lafarge, IPMAN road haulers like BHN, Chisco, MDS logistics, Westrend, etc., are very much welcomed to apply

Other Requirements

Prospective truck drivers will undergo a physical driving test, medical test, and police background check in Nigeria before proceeding to the EU (at their own expense).

Successful candidates on arrival in the EU will undergo a four-week training program conducted by the company (at no cost to the drivers) and, on completion, another four weeks of accompanied driving across the EU for them to prove their expertise and to practically understand the routes and rules.

Remuneration

Successful truck drivers will receive salaries and bonuses. Salaries are €70 per day for qualified professional drivers and €40 per day for student and trainee drivers.

Bonuses are paid for accident free driving, number of kilometers covered, fuel conservation, and an “eco score. Bonus earnings average between €5 and €25 per day, depending on the performance of each driver.
