AFCON2023: Rampaging Cape Verde drown Mozambique 3:0
The ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON2023, competition is throwing up a new kid on the block. Cape Verde, the tiny island Nation off the coast of West Africa is proving they are no push overs, that size does not matter in football. Today they drowned Mozambique by 3 goals to zero, thus becoming the first team to qualify for the knockout stages. They have thus far won their first two games, securing the maximum 6 points.
From the start of the match, Mozambique seemed unsettled, making two turnovers near their own goal in the opening minutes of the game. Following their 2-2 draw with Egypt, the Mambas struggled to find their rhythm and appeared to be a mere reflection of their usual selves. They will now regroup and focus on making necessary adjustments before their last group stage match. Throughout the early stages of the Afcon tournament, the Blue Sharks have consistently posed a threat, and their fans can be proud of how the team has conducted themselves against their adversaries.
