“This workshop will provide a space for creative thinking and problem solving through the lens of creative or artistic activism,” reads a statement. “During the workshop, we will contextualise our activism, art, work or general actions under the lens of artistic activism, exploring the legacy of artistic activism and its crucial role in engendering revolutionary social movements and bringing about social change and evolution.”

Specific themes that will be explored at the seminar include:

  • Culture, human behaviour and societal evolution.
  • The union of affective and effective tools to bring about change.
  • Creative practice, social and political messaging.
  • The legacy of African artistic activism.
  • Finding ways to use artistic/creative practice for social activism.
