Ayoba messaging app crosses 25 million monthly active users
Africa’s great app ayoba has announced that it has surpassed the 25 million monthly active user mark. This represents an increase from 20 million monthly active users in December 2022. The platform is open worldwide, however it is heavily focused on the African continent. Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, and the Republic of Congo are among the key territories.
“25 million is a significant milestone for us to reach on our fourth birthday,” CEO Burak Akinci adds. “Our journey has been transformative, and the positive feedback we’ve received from our users fuels our drive for innovation.” Our users are crucial to our success, and we are appreciative for their assistance.”
So far in 2023, ayoba has prioritized communication and content features. These have gotten positive feedback, with a 35% rise in messages and a 16% increase in both tales and VoIP calls. Users have viewed 88 million cards in categories such as entertainment, education, food, fashion, and others across all platforms.
Ayoba saw great growth and progress over the first four months of 2023. “We’ve improved our socialization and messaging capabilities, enhanced our microapp experience, and added a slew of new features,” Akinci explains.
The addition of the new ‘explore’ landing page marks a big advancement for the Android version of ayoba. This page, which is now in pilot mode, will eventually be pushed out to all significant territories. It provides our users with a simpler design for easy browsing across ayoba’s curated high-quality content and accentuates our themes.
The vertical of the microapp has also experienced significant evolution in Q1 at ayoba, with a direct shortcut to the vertical added to the bottom navigation bar. This part, referred to as a growing ‘environment for small African businesses’ – and some larger ones – provides service providers with simple access to the existing ayoba user base. The most popular microapps right now are ‘live scores’ (which allow users to access the most recent sports scores), ‘ayoba gifting’, ‘video play apps’, sports, and commerce.
Ayoba is available on all networks thanks to a collaboration with MTN. Users on ayoba enjoy gratis daily data in select participating territories, enhancing its value proposition*. Ayoba’s growth trajectory places the company on track to reach 100 million monthly active users by 2025.
