Chipper Cash and Visa to grow financial inclusion across Africa

In an effort to promote expansion and financial inclusion throughout the African continent, Chipper Cash, a financial services provider with over five million clients in the US and Africa, has established a strategic alliance with Visa.

Visa and Chipper Cash have a well-established cooperation. Chipper Cash has worked with Visa since 2021 to introduce its well-liked Chipper Card, which allows users to make payments anywhere in the world using the Visa network. With this expanded agreement, Chipper will be able to take advantage of Visa’s extensive experience and investment across a wider range of its business operations. Chipper recently issued one million cards, making it the largest virtual card supplier in Africa.

In order to take use of Chipper’s experience and Visa’s capabilities, the two companies will continue to work together on card issuance while also collaborating in other regulatory and functional areas, including as marketing and Visa licensing.

“We are proud to have a strong relationship with Visa and are excited to strengthen these ties even further,” Chipper Cash Chief Product Officer Brett Macgrath stated. With today’s news, we can leverage Visa’s global reach to continue providing our customers with the greatest products and services while delivering on our priorities more quickly than we could on our own.

“We are excited to share the news of our extended partnership with Chipper Cash. Meagan Rabe, Senior Director of Fintechs for Visa Sub-Saharan Africa, stated, “This strengthens our support in the growing demand for digital financial services in Africa and driving meaningful impact across the continent.” “We are eager to carry on our collaborative efforts with Chipper Cash in order to reimagine and broaden the definition of financial ease and accessibility.”

“Bringing trusted and reliable products to market at pace – such as the Chipper Card – are not just business wins, they’re enablers for growth and opportunity,” said Tefiro Serunjogi, Head of Consumer Products, Chipper Cash. According to our statistics, 21% of consumers are using a Chipper Card for the first time ever to access a credit or debit card. Our aspirations are lofty, and the unwavering support of a top partner like Visa enables us to expand our card program and take further steps to reach millions of people with financial inclusion.

The declaration of the strategic alliance with Visa is another milestone in Chipper’s quest to offer the most dependable and trustworthy financial services to individuals residing in Africa and beyond. It also happens barely two months after Chipper declared the opening of Chipper ID, an AI-powered onboarding and verification tool designed exclusively for Africa.
