Friesland Campina to boost dairy production in Nigeria

IN bid to increase the production of dairy products in Nigeria, a Dutch dairy company, Friesland Campina, has made known its resolve to invest about twenty-three million Euros in the nation’s dairy production.

Chief Executive Officer of the company, Hein Schumacher, made the disclosure while speaking with journalists after a meeting with the vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo last Friday.

“We are investing around 23 million Euros in new facilities in order to have fresh milk-ready to drink milk, and in order to have fresh milk for the consumer, you need local production; you cannot import fresh milk from Europe.” He said.

While stressing further on the proposed investment, Managing Director of Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria, Ben Langart, said that the discussion with the vice president centered on dairy development programme and the obstacles the company is facing in Nigeria.

He said: “So, we had discussions on how to scale this up, what challenges we are facing and how to make it bigger from what it is today.”
