NGX stock market index rises 0.55% with investors gaining N165 billion on Friday
The NGX All-Share Index rose by 0.55% on Friday to close the day’s trading session at 54,949.21 points with market capitalization gaining N165 billion to close at N29.333 trillion. The ASI closed 2.13% higher week-over-week after rising in four out of five trading sessions this week.
Trade turnover settled higher with 2,820 transactions involving 119.10 million shares worth N2.50 billion completed. Activities in DANGCEM (+0.74%), BUAFOODS (+6.17%) and ZENITHBANK (+1.58%), spurred the market today.
Throughout the week, the index was brought down by MTNN (-0.20% w/w), WAPCO (-0.58% w/w), and FBNH (-0.43% w/w), while gains were made by AIRTELAFRI (+3.85% w/w), DANGCEM (+0.74% w/w), and BUAFOODS (+15.59% w/w). As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 7.22%, and the market capitalization increased by $623.60 billion weekly to end at $29,93 trillion.
With 14.14 million units traded, GTCO (+0.79%) dominated the volume chart, while SEPLAT (+0.00%) led the value chart with trades totaling $528.86 million. On the leader’s log, CONOIL (+9.94%) outperformed 18 other competitors, while CORNERST (-0.79%) outperformed 8 other competitors.
