The Nigeria Stock Market NGX All-Share Index extends gains by 0.20% on Tuesday
The Nigeria Stock Exchange continued its bull run for a third day in a row, helping the benchmark index gain 0.20% to close at 48,366.69 points. The market’s favorable performance was driven by persistent buying interest in the industrial heavyweight BUACEMENT (+2.50%), along with WAPCO (+0.92%), UBA (+0.69%), and ETI (+4.98%), offsetting losses in the banking stocks ZENITHBANK (-0.68%), GTCO (-1.64%), and FBNH (-1.37%). As a result, the market capitalization increased by 61.60 billion to close at 26.34 trillion, and the year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 13.23%.
A review of today’s market activity revealed that trade turnover was lower than it had been during the previous session, with a 13.37% decrease in transaction value. 3,189 transactions totaling 184.656 million shares worth 3.571 billion pounds were completed. With 66.11 million units traded, FBNH (-1.37%) dominated the volume chart, while GEREGU (-2.44%) won the value chart with transactions totaling $1.75 billion. Equity capitalisation stands at N26,344,032,363,966.28
At a ratio of 1.25 to 1, the market breadth closed in the positive, with more rising issues than declining ones. On the leader’s log, HONYFLOUR (+8.06%) outperformed fourteen (14) other participants, while UPDC (-7.07%) outperformed eleven (11) other participants.
Meanwhile, Shareholders of Geregu Power suffered a loss of nearly N30.250b on Monday December 5 because of selling pressure that was present during Monday’s trading session. The stock price of the company fell from N122.80 to N110.70, a 9.85% decrease. It ended the trading day with a market capitalization of N276.750b as opposed to N307.000b at the start of trading, a loss of nearly N30.250 billion
