Unity Bank Holds Financial Literacy Training for Secondary School Students in Nasarawa State to Mark Global Money Week
Thirty-one schools in Nigeria have received financial literacy training, thanks to Unity Bank Plc as part of the lender’s celebrations of World Money Week in 2023. On Thursday, March 23, Mrs. Tomi Somefun, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc, participated in the program by leading a workshop on financial literacy at Kabayi Secondary School in Mararaba, Nasarawa state.
The participants, who were represented by Mrs. Titilayo Abraham, Group Head, Customer Engagement, Unity Bank Plc, gained practical knowledge on wealth creation, with money, saving, investing, and entrepreneurship remaining the common threads.
Ms. Somefun’s involvement with the pupils emphasized the need to improve financial education and financial inclusion while also instilling fundamental financial management principles. Students who excelled during the training received rewards.
World Money Week is an annual event sponsored by corporate organizations that takes place between March 22 and March 28 in over 178 countries. Financial institutions use Global Money Week to host a number of events and activities that encourage kids and young people to learn about money, saving, earning a living, finding work, and starting their own business.
The activities for World Money Week in Nigeria are coordinated by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Banker’s Committee in partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria. Financial institutions from all over the country participate.
