Applications for Fashionomics Africa Online Accelerator Program are now open

The Fashionomics Africa Online Accelerator Program is being implemented by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with Co-Creation Hub, The Creative Economy Practice at CcHUB, and Syndicate by CcHUB to help African entrepreneurs in the textile, apparel, and accessories (TA&A) sector scale and grow their companies. The African Development Bank’s Fashionomics Africa Online Accelerator Program intends to boost Africa’s involvement in the global textile and apparel sector value chain. The acceleration program will be targeted at growth-stage start-ups in the fashion industry that have already established a business and are working to increase their clientele, keep their cash flow positive, and possibly open up new markets or product lines.

The African Development Bank’s Fashionomics Africa Online Accelerator Program intends to boost Africa’s involvement in the global textile and apparel sector value chain. The acceleration program will be targeted at growth-stage start-ups in the fashion industry that have already established a business and are working to increase their clientele, keep their cash flow positive, and possibly open up new markets or product lines.

The initial round of incubator firms are engaged in a variety of high-tech industries that have been given priority. As follows:

  • The accelerator program’s selection criteria are as follows:
  • African citizens who are at least 18 years old must apply.
  • The start-up must have a physical address and be incorporated as a corporation in the African nation where it will conduct business.
  • The growth stage is required for fashion start-ups (must have existed for at least 3years and have solid traction with clear products, sales channels and customer base).
  • The textile, clothing, and accessories ecosystem is where fashion start-ups must operate. This includes, but is not limited to, designing and creating clothes, designing and making accessories, designing textiles, fashion illustration, and taking photographs of clothes.
  • Application submissions are encouraged from technology-enabled fashion companies and service suppliers.

Top candidates will be admitted to an accelerator program, where they will get the following benefits:

  • access to materials that have been carefully chosen to aid in business growth.
  • access to an active community and network of African fashion creatives.
  • Possibility to pitch for up to $20,000 in funding.
  • access to mentorship, activities organized by the community, and specific fashion business training.
  • access to information on the African fashion ecosystem that is relevant to the industry.
  • opportunities to present their fashion solutions and solicit advice and criticism from professionals in the field.

The application form will take no more than three (3) minutes to complete and will ask users to respond to a quiz-style questionnaire. Applications must be submitted by February 22, 2023. Apply now
