Call for Entries for Mozilla’s 2023 Rise 25 Awards

The final entry deadline for the Rise 25 Awards has been set for July 17, 2023, according to Mozilla, a nonprofit-backed software business whose aim is to make sure the internet is a worldwide public resource that is open and accessible to everyone.

The awards will honour and celebrate the 25 game-changers who are assuring a bright future for everyone by reshaping the internet’s future to be more moral, responsible, and inclusive. A event to mark Mozilla’s 25th anniversary will take place in Berlin in October; more information, including programming revisions, will be released soon.

According to Lindsey O’Brien, Chief Marketing Officer of Mozilla, “Mozilla’s mission has always been to benefit the public interest, from when we first open-sourced our Firefox browser code 25 years ago to the technologies we create today that spark innovation, more competition, and more choice online.” “With Rise 25, we commemorate our 25th year in business and pay tribute to the trailblazers who are reshaping the internet’s future by developing technologies that are more moral, just, and equitable, as well as inclusive and diverse content.

The following categories will each include five honorees:

Innovative and provocative digital artists who utilise the internet as their canvas to inspire others and challenge preconceived notions about what is possible online.
Activists who use the internet to raise their voices, advance social and political change, and change the world.
Creators, filmmakers, educators, comedians, and others who use narrative to foster community online, motivate their followers, and start meaningful discussions.
Builders, engineers, and technical experts who are creating the web’s infrastructure, reshaping its technological aspects, and ensuring that everyone can use it.

Advocates, lawmakers, lawyers, and others who are working to maintain the openness and freedom of the internet are influencing its rules and laws.
The 25 awardees will be provided with lodging and round-trip transportation to Berlin so they can attend the ceremony in person.
