Man City beat Liverpool 3-2 to advance to Quarterfinals of EFL Carabao Cup
Manchester city FC this evening defeated Liverpool FC by three goals to two to advance to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup EFL competition. The match was played at the Etihad stadium
City earned their victory, which keeps Pep Guardiola on track to win this title five times, making him the competition’s all-time winningest manager.
Although the final score was close, it was clear that City were the superior team despite the high quality, high pace, and high drama that we have come to expect from these two teams.
It was obvious that Kevin De Bruyne had left his World Cup struggles with Belgium behind him as he was at his brilliant best, creating chances on a platter for his teammates.
Even though they were outplayed, Liverpool fought hard and tied the score twice, first through Fabio Carvalho after Erling Haaland had given City the lead and again through Mohamed Salah after Riyad Mahrez had put the hosts ahead.
Liverpool FC were unable to recover for a third time, as Ake’s header from De Bruyne cross on the 58th minute proved to be the decider and advance City into the quarterfinals, the round of eight.
