The Norbert Zongo African Prize 2023 for Investigative Journalism (PAJI-NZ)

The Norbert Zongo National Press Center (CNP-NZ) and the Norbert Zongo Cell for Investigative Journalism in West Africa (CENOZO) have issued a call for proposals for the Norbert Zongo African Journalism Prize of Investigation (PAJI-NZ).

The PAJI-NZ is meant to recognize the efforts of African journalists in print, radio, television, and online media who have conducted quality investigations into corruption, organized crime, human rights violations, governance, environmental crime, terrorism, and other issues.

Requirements

A candidate for PAJI-NZ must be an African journalist who is regularly employed in a press organ or who collaborates with one or more press organs; or a non-African journalist who has lived in Africa for at least two years prior to application and is working in Africa.
The PAJI-NZ will award a prize to the best production in each category (written press, radio, television, online press) as well as a special prize dubbed the "SEGBO D'OR" to the best of all productions across all categories.
Any submission for PAJI-NZ must have been published between May 3, 2021 and May 3, 2023. 

Application Methodology

The following information must be included in the application file:

    a statement of candidacy detailing the candidate's identify (surname, first names, pseudonym or pen name used);
    a PDF copy of the application's production subject, an MP4 video or MP3 audio file, or a URL link;
    a certificate from the organ attesting to his membership or participation in the editorial team of the press organ that published his work;
    a curriculum vitae with a photograph of the candidate;
    Proof of residence in Africa for at least two years on the date of application for non-African journalists;

a written declaration signed by the candidate authorizing the PAJI-NZ award organizers to use his name, voice, images, and the elements submitted if he is awarded, without compensation and on all media, for advertising purposes / public relations or Prize information.

PAJI-NZ prize winners will be invited to the award ceremony, which will take place on the fringes of the 10th International Festival for Freedom of Expression and the Press (FILEP) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from October 18 to 21, 2023.
