Weekly Commodities Market Update: Agricultural Commodities witness price increases in the open market

Most commodity prices rose year on year in the most recent trading week. Sorghum recovered from last week’s loss and led the rebound on the open market, up 6.17% year on year.

Meanwhile, most commodities saw price increases on the open market. Maize was the greatest gainer, rising 12.56% year on year. The price surge in sorghum that began last week is projected to continue this week due to high demand for the commodity from third-party aggregators.

The AFEX Commodity Index (ACI) gained 0.21% while the AFEX Export Index (AEI) lost 0.01% year on year. The ACI finished the week at 491.69 index points, while the AEI finished at 228.71 index points.
